Movies & TV Shows That Give Fall Vibes for Absolutely No Reason

It’s officially spooky season, which means it’s time to talk about the movies and TV shows that give off the best fall vibes for absolutely no reason at all.

We’re talking about the movies that make you want to put on an oversized sweater, grab a coffee you can’t afford, and pretend your life is a Pinterest board.

Do these movies actually take place in fall?

Not necessarily.

Do we care?

Absolutely not.

First up, we have Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

And yes, we are specifically talking about Tobey Maguire.

Sorry, Tom Holland fans, but this is not your moment.

There’s just something about these movies that screams fall, even though Peter Parker spends most of his time getting bullied, struggling financially, and being thrown into buildings.

Maybe it’s the New York City setting, or maybe it’s the whole high school student trying to balance school, relationships, and saving an entire city thing.

Whatever it is, these movies have that nostalgic, slightly gloomy autumn atmosphere that makes you want to stare dramatically out a window while listening to sad music.

Is Peter Parker okay?

No.

Are we going to romanticize his problems anyway?

Obviously.

Next on the list is Back to the Future.

Something about the nostalgia, the old-school setting, and the general aesthetic makes this movie feel like the perfect fall rewatch.

At Worth-the-Watch, we have a theory that any movie taking place in the past automatically gains at least three autumn points.

We don't make the rules.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia, maybe it’s the outfits, or maybe we just associate fall with pretending we’re living in a different decade instead of dealing with our actual responsibilities.

Either way, Back to the Future belongs on the list. Plus, who doesn't want to watch a teenager accidentally mess with the timeline of his own existence?

Honestly, we've all had worse Mondays.

Now, when it comes to TV shows, Gilmore Girls is obviously going to come up.

You can’t talk about cozy fall television without mentioning Stars Hollow, coffee, and two women who can apparently survive entirely on caffeine and rapid-fire dialogue.

But here at Worth-the-Watch, we have a controversial opinion:

Gossip Girl deserves the

crown for the ultimate autumn comfort show.

Yes, we said it. Come for us.

Between the Upper East Side scenery, private school uniforms, oversized coats, dramatic relationships, and enough backstabbing to make a group project look like a healthy friendship, Gossip Girl practically screams fall.

Sure, Gilmore Girls has the cozy small-town charm, but after a while, the same relationship problems start circling back around like a seasonal allergy. At a certain point, you have to wonder if anyone in Stars Hollow has considered therapy or simply minding their own business.

Gossip Girl, on the other hand, keeps things interesting with multiple main characters, ridiculous scandals, and enough drama to make your own college group chat look like a professional workplace.

Are these people making good decisions? Absolutely not.

Do they own coats that cost more than our monthly grocery budgets? Probably.

Will we continue watching them destroy their own lives in designer clothing? Without question.

XOXO, WTW

And, of course, we cannot forget the childhood classics.

When thinking about nostalgic fall movies, Hotel Transylvania and Minions deserve a spot on the list.

Now, we know Minions isn't exactly the first movie that comes to mind when someone says "fall," but hear us out.

Sometimes, you don't want a deep, emotional coming-of-age story. Sometimes, you don't want to watch two people spend eight seasons avoiding a perfectly reasonable conversation.

Sometimes, you just want little yellow creatures speaking gibberish and committing what can only be described as cartoon-level crimes.

Meanwhile, Hotel Transylvania gives us monsters, spooky scenery, and Adam Sandler being Adam Sandler.

It's basically Halloween for people who aren't quite ready to watch something genuinely terrifying.

And honestly, that's a respectable place to be.

Not everyone wants to spend October checking behind their shower curtain because they watched one scary movie at 11 p.m.

At the end of the day, fall movies and TV shows don't need falling leaves, pumpkin patches, or a dramatic scene involving a scarf blowing in the wind to earn a spot on our watchlist.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little nostalgia, a cozy setting, or a fictional character making terrible life decisions in a really nice coat.

So, whether you're watching Peter Parker suffer, Marty McFly accidentally destroy the space-time continuum, Blair Waldorf emotionally terrorize everyone around her, or animated yellow creatures cause international chaos, just remember:

fall vibes are subjective, and we will absolutely be judging your watchlist accordingly.

Now, we have to ask:

Are you Team Gilmore Girls or Team Gossip Girl? Choose wisely. We are prepared to make this personal.
